Our services

Automatic driving lessons in Brighton, shaped around you.

We tailor every lesson to your pace — whether you’re a complete beginner starting automatic driving lessons, a nervous driver, or returning after a long break. The goal is simple: a safe, confident, independent driver.

What one-to-one automatic tuition covers

Your lesson time is about your progress. Rather than following a generic lesson plan, your instructor focuses on what you need most — which, depending on your stage of learning, can include:

Moving off and stopping Steering and vehicle control Junctions and roundabouts Road positioning Observation and anticipation Meeting and passing traffic Parking and manoeuvres Dual carriageway driving Independent driving Test preparation
Why choose automatic?

No clutch. No gears. Just the road.

Learning in an automatic car is increasingly popular — and it’s our speciality. Most learners find it easier, progress faster and feel far calmer in busy Brighton traffic.

SELECT D — AND GO No clutch control to master, so you can focus on road positioning and safety sooner.
01

Brighton doesn’t have its own driving test centre — the test centre for this area is in Burgess Hill, so that’s where we practise test routes.

What makes our approach different

We focus on the driver, not just the test.

Passing your practical test is an important milestone, but your driving journey doesn’t end there. As your skills develop, a good lesson should help you rely less on your instructor and more on your own judgement:

01

What should I do?

Understanding the correct response to the situation in front of you.

02

Why should I do it?

The reasoning behind each decision, not just a memorised instruction.

03

When should I do it?

Recognising the right timing and judgement on real roads.

04

How do I spot it myself, next time?

Building the observation skills to recognise it unprompted.

That’s how confidence becomes independence. Your test is a milestone — your driving skills are for life.

Tailored for you

However you learn, we’ll meet you there.

Frequently asked questions

Automatic driving lessons, answered.

Yes. Complete beginners are very welcome — your first lessons focus on becoming comfortable in the car and understanding the controls, with progress built up step by step.

There’s no single answer — it depends on your experience, confidence and how quickly you build the required skills. GOV.UK confirms there’s no minimum number of lessons before taking the practical test, only that you should be ready to drive safely and independently.

Yes. Flexible lesson times — including mornings, evenings and weekends — are available subject to availability, so lessons can fit around work, college or family commitments.

Yes — just ask about female instructor availability when you enquire. We understand instructor preference can be personal or cultural, and we welcome enquiries from learners seeking a female instructor.

Yes. You can choose to learn and take your practical test in an automatic car regardless of any previous manual experience.

Yes. GOV.UK confirms the car practical test can be taken in an automatic or semi-automatic car.

Your instructor will start by understanding your experience and introducing you to the vehicle and its basic controls, before progressing at a suitable pace. You won’t be expected to already know how to drive.

Yes — both are available. Intensive and fast-track training suits learners who want a concentrated schedule, subject to your experience and readiness, while refresher lessons help returning drivers rebuild confidence in specific areas.

No. GOV.UK says that if you pass your car test in an automatic car, you get a category B (auto) entitlement, which lets you drive automatic cars only. To drive manual cars, you would need to pass a manual practical test to upgrade your licence.

The practical driving test is the same for manual and automatic cars. The test takes around 35 to 40 minutes overall, with around 35 minutes of driving. It includes an eyesight check, two ‘show me, tell me’ vehicle safety questions, general driving ability including 20 to 35 minutes of independent driving, and one reversing exercise. The examiner may ask you to complete a parallel park, park in a bay, or pull up on the right-hand side of the road, reverse for around two car lengths and rejoin the traffic.

Ready to start driving?

Driving is freedom, independence and opportunity.
